This entry contains serious spoilers for Sara Douglass's Darkwitch Rising, if anyone cares.

Okay, the book is really confusing me now. Louis is not Coel; Charles is Coel. Louis is Brutus. This explains Louis's anger. This explains Charles effeminacy. This explains Louis's strange reaction to Marguerite; after all, Coel had had her before.

This does not explain Catling's conception and Noah's accompanying expectations. This does not explain Coel as king (although there is an offhand explanation of time and space, and he is the Lord of the Faerie...). Why does Coel get Catharine, when she is Brutus's by rights? There are so many things left unexplained. Is it all part of the greater deception?

Well. Aside from that, I am a ridiculous fan of John Thornton. He is a wonderful counterpart to Louis. I look forward to seeing what Douglass does with him. And Weyland? Well, I'm getting used to him.

I hate the flu.
