aspirations of the babel curse
2006-07-06 - 14:26 EST Currently reading Alamut by Judith Tarr. It's a prequel, of sorts, to The Hound and the Falcon. I find myself flushing with pure joy while reading it. I can't believe it's taken so long to find its way into my hands. It's wonderfully written. Tarr's abandoned precise structure in favor of the quick fragments that suit Aidan's mind. The language is so beautiful, and I marvel at her wondrous descriptions of Arabia. Arabicland. Bad inside joke. Sorry. Moving on. Got it in a used book shop on a corner in Penn Yan. Great place. I highly recommend it. I can't get enough of this book. It's so similar to what I want my writing to be. c.i.,p.i.q.e.
